Since 2009, Dakota Applicators has been insulating homes, shops and commercial buildings across the midwest. We'll work with you to create a plan to insulate your next project in the most efficient manner. A wide variety of insulating materials exist on the market today. Choosing the right mix can make a big impact on your future energy costs.
Spray foam insulation is one of the best insulating options for any project. Customers can expect up to 50% energy savings compared to standard fiberglass insulation. The reduction in heating bills makes spray foam an investment that can pay for itself in only a few years.
Get a free estimateNot all spray foam is created equal. The two options on the market are open-cell and closed-cell. In the climate zone found through the upper midwest, closed-cell is the superior product. With closed-cell foam, the insulation is sprayed and molds itself to all surfaces before it becomes rigid and forms a barrier to the outside. This is an excellent way to seal out moisture, vapor, dust, critters and mold.
Due to the rigid characteristics of closed-cell foam, it provides additional structural integrity to your building and never settles like other types of insulation. We apply 2lb closed-cell foam to all interior surfaces. Exterior surfaces and roofing applications use 3lb closed-cell foam.

“We had Michael with Dakota Applicators, of Gettysburg, SD insulate our new home, along with two outbuildings. He did a great job, which can be attested to with the heat of last summer and the below freezing temps of this winter. The hours that the air handling unit operates per day is limited in number, thus the efficiency of the installation of the insulation is demonstrated daily. Michael, you did a great job and we thank you for all you did to make this a very positive experience.”
